Section Schedule THEA 287 Topics in Playwriting Students write new plays in response to the specific playwriting topic of the semester. Over the course of the semester students will study topics in playwriting such as modern adaptations of Greek or classic plays; the body of work of one playwright and/or school of playwrights within their cultural and historical contexts; a particular theatre style; and other subjects in contemporary playwriting practice. The course explores process, styles, techniques and theatrical choices in published and unpublished plays, and relevant prose, journals, letters, reviews, and interviews. Students will also attend theatre productions. Topics will rotate so that students have the opportunity to study various aspects for writing for performance.
